If you are just embarking on the college planning process, you will encounter a whole new language pertaining to college admissions and financial aid. Note a 2023 change. Whenever you see “EFC” that is now SAI…Student Aid Index. I strongly suspect, because there is little change in the unrealistic formula made by Congress, is that the words “Expected Family Contribution” meant nothing of the sort, given the manner that colleges determined “need”.
To help you understand the lingo and communicate effectively with those you will meet along the way, I have compiled what I call the “College Alphabet Soup” or CAS.
